01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Sunadokei is a café with the welcoming feel of a neighbourhood diner, and its daily set meal is a popular choice. A board just inside the entrance, on the right, displays the menu plan for 1 weeks. Home-style meals may include grilled fish, small side dishes and salad. Rice can be upgraded to a larger portion for an extra charge, making this a satisfying option when you want a substantial lunch.
There is plenty beyond the daily special. The menu ranges from café staples such as Napolitan spaghetti and meat sauce to pilaf, beef curry, yakisoba and yaki udon. Toast comes in several varieties, from buttered to egg, pizza and sugar toast. For something sweet, there are treats such as abekawa mochi, isobe-maki and country-style zenzai.
The tidy, quiet interior suits a solo meal just as well as a pause over coffee. Payment is by cash only, and the relaxed setting is a comfortable place to enjoy simple, homemade food.
